Resilience. What a beautiful, necessary and shockingly plentiful aspect of human existence. I’ve been tapping into the concept of resilience as a source of fuel lately, reminding myself that I am strong, that I can do hard things, and trying to remind my loved ones that resilience is plentiful within them, too. It’s from the hardest things that we not only find the most growth, but the most depth and the most grace.
I loved pulling the soft, intricate lines into this piece — it reminds me of petrified wood or the bands of a stone, worn smooth and opulent by the wear of time and matter. And as balance goes, these dense, banded forms are lovingly woven in wispy lightness, and from the crevices bursts dynamic, organic growth. The mark of resilience.
